I generally agree with this analysis, or maybe more accurately I would like to believe in it. Many aspects of the new administration seem to reinforce it, but the situation is somewhat distorted by the fact that Trump has chosen to ally with Zionists, presumably to more effectively wield power. It's certainly helpful if major donors and Zionist advocacy institutions can help your friends and hurt your enemies. But in this respect we end up aligning with standard neocon doctrine. Bombing Houthis and potentially being drawn into a war with Iran has nothing to do with focusing on our regional sphere of influence. Israel's enemies are now our enemies.

I am very interested in your thoughts of where Australia fits into this, particularly given we are in the geographical sphere of China but a western nation.

We are among the oldest democracies in the world but being “down under” and small, we play such an insignificant role in global affairs. Yet, we sit as perhaps the richest of all continents that possess resource rich minerals.
