This article seems a bit dated, as technology, most notably the Internet, continues to kill off daily newspapers. Even larger American cities like New Orleans, Pittsburgh, and Salt Lake City no longer have newspapers that can be deemed "daily." I would have been 90 percent in agreement with this article, though, if I had read it 20 or more years ago, when I reported on news for a medium-sized daily newspaper in the Midwest.
