Yes. If the Europeans have their preferences on one side, it is OK and natural. But for the sake of diplomacy and survival after the China-US clash, it is far better to keep silent and neutral on the surface. Think about China's position, preference, and what China actually did in the case of the Ukraine War.

Precisely.

To participate in a 'Trade War' means to hang one's neck out... one which Europe ought not to do in this scenario, given what they may lose in the medium to long run.

It’s important not to think Europe and EU are the same. Europe biggest problem are neither USA or China but EU EU is not a democracy but a socialist dictatorship lead by non elected corrupt bureaucrats. 27 countries with different languages and culture can’t agree on anything Their economy is poor They decide many 1000 laws to control people They are against free speech and they waste billions on totally ridiculous things. Neither USA or BRICS takes them seriously. For 40 years they have told us EU are a peace project but now they spend billions on the war in Ukraine A war there not in any way are EUs business Ukraine are not a member of EU or NATO. The hole EU are over flooded with Muslim immigrants In UK France Germany Belgium Sweden is it to late to do anything Islam rules everywhere and politicians don’t do anything about it Another problem is their insane climate politics They spend billions on outdated wind and solar energy and have the highest energy prices in the world. Europe must wait to be great again until EU have collapsed

Even if everything you say is correct (we will assume it is for the sake of argument):

There is no logic for Europe (its leaders, people, etc) to get entangled with the business of America & China, especially when it involves destructive Trade Wars.

Too much will be Lost, & Too little (if anything at all) will be gained.

Your strategy will hasten the demise of the EU! The leaders are children who are petty thieves stealing from the villagers! The British Secret Services are playing small ball with Ukraine! There is no longer a sufficiently corrupt criminal class running government! All they’ve got now is boats with dope! Remember the heydays of the mass looting of whole continents and the enslavement of millions? What a letdown to just crush the unarmed Irish! Phiffle!

So be it.

If the EU is dumb enough to get into a Trade War & ruin itself, then maybe it doesn't deserve to exist anymore. That said:

IF (big IF) it is prudent enough to avoid this destructive Trade War... then what that shows is that even the Globalist crowd & its sundry technocrats, plutocrats & oligarchs... still have some functional brain cells left to rub together!

It is the US that needs to not get involved. When that happens, the lucrative nature of war diminishes significantly. The US wants to not get involved right now. That is the current sentiment and the future sentiment.

Depends.

MAGA bros are very keen on this 'Liberation Day' stuff & they seem to think that Trade Wars are good for the 'rebirth of the American nation' (Hint: Nope).

Most other Americans, on both the left and the right, are disinterested in such a dangerous gamble.

I, for one, think Americans will get *exactly* what le Donald is selling them, namely 'Liberation.'

Albeit, it will be Liberation for the rest of the world (not Americans).

We are mainly reacting to unfair trade right now. It will change for the better, unless bad actors weight the scales

'Trade Imbalance' can be a good thing OR a bad thing. It depends on what the terms are of the trade.

For example, it's not a bad thing that Madagascar sells Vanilla to America while they don't buy much from America because (1) Its people are too poor, (2) They don't want American products & (3) the Two Currencies are lopsided.

The fact that Madagascar has a 'trade surplus' with America is due to the fact that People in America want Vanilla for their pastries.

It's not because Madagascar is Evil & has a giant lobbying group inside America where men in suits are cackling loudly about 'screwing the US Consumer.'
