I would take this a step farther in that America is as much a commercial enterprise that is no longer competitive so enforces its "free market competiveness" by force as it is a diing empire.
This is something kind of new in the empire business because it enlists the very free market entrepreneurs who once opposed goverment regulation, especially journalism-communication and PR people who have always been involved in gov't propaganda and "Yellow JOurnalism" but not to the extent that they are no longer compettive either and just as desperate for Ukraine to defeat Russia and Israel to "get the job done" because the emerging multi-polar world order won't spare them either.
