It may be disturbing, but it’s a rational response to the relentless Russophobia and existential threat propagated by the U.S. and NATO that led to a war Russia sought to avoid. For thirty years Russia has sought a security arrangement with the US to no avail. By 2021 it was either fight or allow themselves to be subjugated to nuclear weapons pointed at them from their own ancestral territory. For two years, Russians have fought and died in battle and Russian civilians have been killed. It is their cultural ethos, that Russian lives sacrificed in war will not be in vain and there is no return to the previous status quo. Ukraine is ancestrally, culturally, linguistically, and historically Russian and has been for more than a millennium. It can be reabsorbed back into the CIS. Russia is not only well prepared to rebuild Ukraine… it really is the only nation that can.
Not sure if Mr Dugin reads this or not. If so he can certainly correct me if I am mistaken. One that crosses my mind the other day was this. Prior to Feb 2022 Russia was most likely still very unsure of herself. FF to today Nov 2024 and I suspect she has become much more mature and confident in herself.
Translation…..that means Trump’s bullying tactics will not work like they might have in his first term. I am a supporter of DT btw. That being said I am NOT a sycophant. I believe we had to get him elected because the alternative was unthinkable.
Mission accomplished, now don’t fuck it up Donald 😉
Ukraine was never an independent country until 1991. What if Texas, say, became independent and then in a few years wanted to join a military alliance with China. The US would not allow it. Same thing here.
I agree with Professor Dugin. For Russia to accept anything other than complete victory over Ukraine would be a defeat for Russia. I've felt that way since President Putin announced the goals of the Special Military Operation. Those goals cannot be achieved without completely, or at least largely, taking over all of Ukraine.
Undoubtedly this was known to the Kremlin at the start, but laying the plan bare at that time and since was not deemed wise. What with Trump winning the US election, Prof. Dugin states that now might be the time to put Russia's cards on the table. He's probably right.
Let’s look at it this way. After the second WW East Europe, Austria and half of Germany were under Soviet control for more than 40 years. What’s happened? Nothing. But at that time the Soviet Union and the U.S. were able to respect a treaty. What is our situation now?
Agree…say whatever you want about the balance of power, but Eastern Europe and the world generally was far more peaceful during the Cold War era. The world is far less stable since the dissolution of the USSR. Wikipedia lists 54 conflicts in former USSR states and satellite nations since 1991. From 1945-1990 the Truman Library lists only three conflicts within the USSR and its satellite nations. Three.
Thats the political situation, but what about the economical situation? The land has a lot of natural resources like excellent soil and minerals like lithium.
