Strong analysis by Mr. Dugin. The reality is that states exist in what is effectively global anarchism: there is no universal set of laws, provisions, procedures, etc. The only thing that guarantees sovereignty is the will to uphold it and defend it - through trade or force of arms - from external threats.

Regardless of how one feels about Trump's action in Venezuela, it has effectively shattered the already-flimsy myth of "international law." The action was taken, it's done, and there will be no recourse. No one has the power to meaningfully respond to this. International institutions may waggle their fingers in stern judgement, but they are powerless to reverse what has occurred. Competing states like Russia will observe this lesson and act accordingly. Trump may come to regret shredding the fig leaf, or maybe not. Time will tell.

Professor Dugin has offered a very realist and clear-eyed view of the current situation. I hope his viewpoint is shared by the Kremlin.

I will point out that international law didn't die when Trump snatched Maduro. On the scale of transgressions against international law, that was barely a parking violation. International law began to be routinely ignore by the West in the 1990's, with the bombing of Serbia. Then came the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. The invasion and occupation of Iraq followed that. Then the bombing of Libya and the occupation of Syria with attendant regime change operations. And all the while that was going on, countless acts of bombing and droning and kidnapping took place in various backwaters of Eurasia, all of them contrary to international law.

The West has waged countless wars over the last 30 years, and not one of them was approved by the UN. They were all unilateral actions by the US and its allies. International law succumbed long ago, and all that's on display now is its corpse.

Dear Dr. Alexander Dugin - I appeal to you to write a letter directly to the people of the United States. The hegemonic thrust is not only threatening the Russian people but also destroying the well-being of many people living inside of this monster. Basic needs for affordable housing and even food are not being met. For instance, in the city of Baltimore significant numbers of people are experiencing food insecurity. The work and writings of our great American political economist - Henry George - was sidelined with the corruption of economics and the establishment of neocon economics that enables elite rule of the USA. 400 billionaires have as much wealth as the lower 50% of the population. Your wise moral philosopher Leo Tolstoy was a great admirer of Henry George and urged the Tsar to implement the key policy that would have made the Russian economy both free AND fair. Our "earth rights" movement is working for this both within the US and worldwide. Could you please bring the teachings of Henry George and Leo Tolstoy out into the world? Here are links to the two parts of my article Financing Planet Management: Sovereignty, World Order and the Earth Rights Imperative:

Dr. Benjamin B. Ferencz, Prosecutor Nuremburg War Crimes Trial, Adjunct Professor of International Law, Pace University said about this view of sovereignty and earth rights: "AH has recognized that the earth is the birthright of all people and that prevailing notions of state sovereignty must yield to the new thinking that the only real sovereigns are the people. If we are all to live together in peace and dignity it must become a reality that the land, the sea, and the air we breathe are a common heritage to serve the basic rights of human kind."

Actually, there is a legal trail to analyze and IInternational Law pertinent to any meaningful discussion of the ongoing "seizures of "stateless" ocean tankers. Same with the "Maduro Affair" and ancillary acts.

Instead of a boring slew of tired and not entirely true opinions lambasting Trump, I prefer and analysis of existing relevant "International Law" ostensibly governing the recent events. I would inc

It appears from my own research that Trump's lawyers are as astute, learned and clever as those of Putin. Great Powers act as they can, alwayscstretching real or imaginary boundries and are generally inclined to justify their behavior with the cover of sound or otherwise legal argument, if for no other reason, than to provide legal arguments for current consumption and later for historical analysis and to bolster subsequent propoganda (accurate or contrived) efforts to sway other nations now or later.

Grazie prof.
